Medical Affairs
The Centocor BV Medical Affairs Europe department offers support in the medical area to internal contacts, for instance to colleagues within the company and external contacts, like customers, who want more information on Centocor's products.
This support can be sub-divided in three main categories:
- Post-marketing research, comprising phase I study and research initiated by researches, as well as registrations;
- Support for internal customers, mainly colleagues in the marketing and sales departments, where support is given in the form of medical training and development of promotional material and materials for training purpose;
- Support for external customers, for instance by the Medical Information department who deal with calls from all over Europe, and by the clinical Scientist team - a group of colleagues from all European countries who work together and whose main task is to speak to customers about education and to answer questions.
The department also sees to it that extensive commitments surrounding registration and guidelines such as "pharmacovigilance" (reporting of adverse events in use of medication) are complied with, as well as being Heath Care Compliant and compliant in the marketing area.
With approximately 50 employees, Medical Affairs is a fairly large department. This has two reasons:
- The department is responsible for all Centocor's Medical Affairs activities in the whole of Europe;
- The nature of Centocor's products, complex biological medicines, entails that extensive medical support is necessary.
Both reasons are debet that employees in this department are continuously faced with new challenges and with a variety of activities and growth opportunities.
